More Mf Principles
Well howdy doo dee amigo, how the hell are you loca?
I am currently waiting for my family to get ready so we can go out to brunch. We are going to the restaurant that I work at so my parents can see how cute it is. This is going to be the last time that I show them where I work and it’s a restaurant. Legally, it has to be (for my sake).
As my parents have been here, it’s been really nice seeing them. I start Amway the day that they leave so I feel like their trip here sort of signifies my last days as this version of myself.
But then again, I give everything meaning so.. (hehe).
Before diving more into this post, I want to share some more concepts from The Art of Focus, that way, you are learning them with me, and I am learning by explaining it.
It’s a win/(mf) win.
Okay so,
Expectation Vs. Reality
Dan explains that there is a space between expectation and reality and within this space, we have tension, pain and suffering.
We as people often interpret a situation to be difficult when there isn’t any other way that it’s supposed to be.
If we can adapt the mindset of “it is what it is” but genuinely be content with that, we will experience profound truth within the saying and adapting that mindset.
If we can live with a “it is what it is” mindset, life becomes more sustainable and more enjoyable.
To be honest, this sits with me because I have found myself getting upset when things don’t necessarily go as I had envisioned (aka my expectations), but I have noticed that when I remain neutral to outcomes and accept things for the way that they are, I tend to enjoy everything that life has to offer, a little bit more.
Radical Acceptance
This concept sort of bounces off the last one, and pretty much is about accepting things for what they are. Everything is already the way that it is supposed to be.
So knowing this, our expectation will become aligned with reality. When this happens, we will be able to see things for what they actually are.
One way this sort of resonates with me, is that I tell myself “divine timing” for everything in life. Meaning that everything that is happening is how it is supposed to be. Every action is a ripple in time and space, meaning that whatever is happening in the world, that is exactly how it’s supposed to be. But tbh idk if that makes sense or not, but it made sense in my head when I was typing it, hehe.
Knowledge Vs Understanding
I’ll be honest, this one didn’t resonate that much with me, so hopefully it will with you.
Dan states, “Knowledge is construced upward, while understanding is discovered inward. Both are useful, but to think that knowledge will make you happy, healthy, and wise is a fool’s endeavor. Knowledge is literal, understanding is metaphorical.”
This shit isn’t clicking for me though, so if you understand it, fill me in on what’s going on pls ily.
Reality Exploration
This is a concept that I have been dabbling with for the past few years since I have been on my self-improvement journey.
This concept is about staying curious to the unknown and learning how to embrace it.
Dan mentions that if we want to live a life that has not yet been lived, then we have to make sure we do not follow the path that has been laid out for us. The sooner we are able to to understand this, the sooner we are able to confront the fear of doing it is what we want in our life and win.
Holistic Synthesis
In this portion, Dan explains that we are conditioned into world-views and ideologies that tend to be narrow, which causes a lot of closed-mindedness throughout the world. These ideologies fuel the goals of those constructs that are pushed on to us rather than focusing on our own goals that will benefit our individual lives and humanity as a whole.
Everything is connected and reality can not be compartmentalized.
The more people that have an open mind, the more we can further the unity of human consciousness. Or that’s what Dan says at least. Which I totes agree.
Creativity Vs Productivity
Humans ain’t robots y'all!
The way that he explains this concept is a little confusing to me because he doesn’t compare/contrast these two concepts in a way that I understand. BUT he states the following that I felt was helpful:
“The greatest artists, thinkers, and scientists did not impact the world by performing the same repetitive, manual, and replaceable tasks day atfer fay. They prioritized rest, sought to expand their minds, and prioritized creativity to solve big problems.”
My main takeaway from this is to prioritize being creative while not burning ourselves out while being productive.
That’s all I am gonna share with you today because there’s still some more, but we are gonna digest just a little bit of these at a time so these concepts can marinate in our silly lil heads.
If you’re still reading, thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I hope there was something beneficial and worth your time in this post.
As always, I shall see you on the flip side :)
Ttyl & love always,
Kyrin.
